 Nova Wines Inc. Marilyn Wines traces its origins to 1981, when a small group of friends started making wine at their home near St. Helena, in Napa Valley. One evening in 1983, over dinner and a bottle of homemade Merlot, the concept of "Marilyn Merlot" was born.  Grapes: a blend of 77% Merlot and 23% Syrah from Lou Tallerico's vineyard near China Camp in California's central valley. Harvested on September 17, the grapes were delivered to the Napa Valley wine Company for processing by Nova wines.
Winemaking: Destemmed but not crushed the grapes were cool fermented to capture the fresh fruit aromas and flavours typical of 'Nouveau' wines. The grapes were pressed before drying to further enhance the softness desired for immediate enjoyment. The release of the 2008 vintage of Marilyn Merlot on June 1st (the birth date of Marilyn Monroe) celebrates the 24th vintage of a wine appreciated by fans of the iconic star, collectors of Marilyn memorabilia, and lovers of fine Napa Valley wines.
Winemakers Notes: "The 2008 vintage Marilyn Merlot is the 24th release of this fine wine. It is a blend of 80% Merlot and 20% Cabernet Sauvignon. The wine was aged in 100% oak barrels, 35% of which were new for this vintage. Aromas of Herbes de Provence, primarily thyme and lavender complement the oak components of vanilla and smoke from the wood. Moderate alcohol and good acidity make this wine a good pairing with fine foods. Vineyard locations for this wine are from our long time growers in Yountville and Oakville regions of the Napa Valley." Status: Sold Out A blend of 93% Cabernet Sauvignon and 7% Merlot.
